Abstract:
Focuses on the United States' role in the post Cold War world. Considers that U.S. interests are likely to remain in the stability of Europe, the balance of power in East Asia and the Western Pacific, and the economic and military security of North American. Sees these goals as tied to the larger interest of promoting global growth and equality.

Description:
At the time of this episode, the United States had been preoccupied with the containment of communism for nearly half a century. But the collapse of communism in 1989 and the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991 changed the world and America’s mission. Bosnia, Somalia, nuclear threats, and economic competition provide just a few of the challenges facing the United States. Former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski joins moderator Peter Krogh to help make order of these concerns. His assessment concludes that U.S. interests will be in the stability and integration of Europe, the balance of power in East Asia and the Western Pacific, and the economic and military security of North America. Brzezinski states that there has been no parallel in history to this time; never before has the world been so dominated by a single power. He argues that a rejuvenation of individual moral values is necessary to secure a promising future.
