| dc.description |
Nine days after the 1985 Geneva Summit where President Reagan met with Soviet Primer Mikhail Gorbachev, Former National Security Advisor to President Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski, sat down with moderator Peter Krogh to explore its implications. In this discussion Brzezinski addresses many of the concerns the broader American public had regarding U.S. relations with the Soviet Union including: human rights, arms control, regional conflicts, and a relaxation of tension. Brzezinski also navigates between the two pulls on the President to either take an accommodating or hard-line posture. So soon after the summit there seemed to be many more questions than answers as to the future of relations between these two super powers. Here Brzezinski uses hypothetical analysis to help visualize the outcome of these talks.
