Covey, Rosemary Feit, 1954- , American
ed. 120 (total all states)The block for the first state proofs deteriorated during the hand-printing and had to be reworked after about 40 proofs. The second state proofs can be identified by the woman's dark lips and the whiter shirts of the two male figures at the lower right. The figure at the lower right does not have a lapel on his jacket. Almost every line has been changed from the first state proofs. Covey continued the sequence of numbers from the first state proofs. The wood block continued to deteriorate and had to be reworked for a third state. Numbering of second state proofs began after 36/120 and no later than 41/120.Masked men dance with women in masquerade.
