Description
Fatima al-Bahadly talks about her education and how her rebellious spirit led her to help students who were less fortunate, bringing about suspicion on her and her family from the government and culminating in their arrest in 1993. Al Bahadly finished her education and began an organization in 2003 that focused on teaching women in villages to read and write and, later, focusing on other societal issues like child marriage, voting, violence against women, reintegration of men in society following the collapse of ISIS, and the demobilization of young people, among others. Finally, Al Bahadly talks about the role of women in peacebuilding, how she encourages women to act, and how important it is to shine a light on marginalized women in other countries.
