In this interview, Sivagami "Shiva" Subbaraman and Teak Hodge (SFS '21) discuss the significance and impact of Lavender Graduation for the Georgetown community. Hodge speaks about their experience being involved in planning and executing the event but also what the event meant to them as a participant. Subbaraman recounts the history of establishing the annual event at Georgetown in 2009 and how it has grown over the last 13 years to become the premiere event on campus to bring together students, University administrators and faculty, faith leaders and LGBTQ alumni to celebrate the achievements of Georgetown’s LGBTQ community. Subbaraman also discusses the landmark gift from Paul (College '62) and Chandler Tagliabue to establish the Tagliabue Initiative for LGBTQ Life at Georgetown University.
