Description
In this interview, Sivagami "Shiva" Subbaraman speaks with Toddchelle Young (C '12) on her time at Georgetown and her involvement with the LGBTQ Resource Center while a student at Georgetown University. Young discusses beginning her time at Georgetown in the Community Scholars Program and being present as the Center was being established in the fall of 2008. Subbaraman discusses the early history of the Center with special emphasis on how various student groups joined together in support of LGBTQ students following several hate crimes that occured on campus in 2007 and how it was this coalition of students that pushed for the creation of the LGBTQ Resource Center. Subbaraman also discusses the origins of the mural located in the Center’s office space in the Leavey Center.
