    Description
While the SCS Writing Lab already had a strong online presence even pre-COVID, like many other services, we had to pivot further into our online space in 2020. In addition to the loss of our physical space, we also had to rethink scheduling, as many students and writing consultants alike suddenly had blurrier lines between their school, work and home lives. This, coupled with the “Zoom fatigue” experienced by many just a few months into the pandemic, highlighted the need for a new, more flexible offering. Enter asynchronous consultations. In an asynchronous consultation, students upload their work to an online portal and receive robust feedback from a writing consultant within 48 hours. Asynchronous consultations allow students to receive feedback on their writing on their own time, and this feedback can often be more dynamic and permanent than traditional synchronous tutoring (Gallagher & Maxfield, 2020). The SCS Writing Lab piloted this new asynchronous offering to great success in Fall 2020, and launched it fully in Fall 2021. This project showcase will outline the process used by the SCS Writing Lab in providing these asynchronous consultations, offer reflections on our first pilot semesters, and share implications for asynchronous feedback options both in and out of the writing support service space.
