    Description
My Georgetown colleagues and I came together with other scholars and pedagogy enthusiasts to created a book called "Creating Engaging and Inclusive Online Courses". We created space to have unique and representative voices in a practical conversation about teaching and learning. What emerged was a group of women of varying interests and experience levels, gender expressions, racial and ethnic backgrounds and neurodiversity thinking about how to engage and learn. In learning from each other, we created a book to help others create or hold space for all kinds of students to have a good experience learning online. We discuss education as a commons and how that: charges us with demonstration an open society or learning online, but also how to ensure practically that the space is accessible. Representation and how to highlight that in digital spaces is another prominent theme. Making work manageable and enjoyable for all kinds of instructors and learners is addresses throughout the book and within our collaboration. In the session, we would talk about the practical tips and ideas from the book, but also how to leverage collaborations for inclusive or "space creating" results.
