Description
Holograph letter from P. O'Doherty, Omagh, County Tyrone, to Hagan, enclosing list of 36 Mass intentions and cheque. Hoping Hagan will see him when visiting Fr. O'Neill of Derry. Commenting that martial law is expected as soon as the southern parliament refuses to function – Catholics in Carsonia cannot be envied in the face of British auxiliary forces. The Belfast boycott is thickening with deposits being withdrawn wholesale from banks; it is 'the most powerful weapon in the people's hands'. The people of western Donegal are suffering from their remote location, with bread prices having risen to half-a- crown for a four-pound loaf of bread. He is certain the bishops will make a strong stand for the schools in Carsonia as they made an effort against the MacPherson Bill.
