Description
Holograph letter from Fr. John Gallagher, Collège des des Irlandais, Rue des Irlandais 5, Paris 5 (France), to Hagan. Hoping to be examined for a doctorate in Theology; asking whether his documents arrived and asking about further procedure. Now attached holograph letter from Gallagher to [Cardinal] Secretary of the Urban College [of Propaganda Fide], petitioning for permission to sit the examinations pursuant to his doctoral thesis in June since he could not travel to Rome before that month. He is currently teaching moral theology in the Paris College. Also typescript reference signed by Bishop Charles McHugh of Derry, for Gallagher, attesting to his character, intelligence, and status as graduate in Theology dated both December and March). [26 December 1922 - 1 March 1923]
