Description
Holograph letter from Archbishop T.P. Gilmartin, St. Jarlath's, Tuam (County Galway), to (Hagan). Reporting that Monsignor Luzio has met the prominent republicans and is about to meet the Free State representatives, so he should be able to appreciate the situation. Last Sunday the irregulars lost two men, killing three Free State soldiers in an attack at Headford; six men were executed in Dublin. Liam Lynch was killed yesterday. Dr. Harty has strong hopes for peace. Expecting to arrive in Rome in late April. The Bishop of Galway died after a week's illness and Gilmartin will have to leave Rome speedily because of the election.
