Holograph letter from Sr. (Mary) Lelia Mangan, St. Vincent's Convent of Our Lady of Mercy, Galway, to Hagan. Attempting to have the Holy See assist Ireland by prayer - enclosing holograph letter from her to His Holiness, offering 24 guineas to him to present a novena of the Trinity for heavenly favours for the Irish race, the hierarchy, clergy, church students, and prisoners, that is chiefly republicans. – To Hagan, discussing at length the present plight and apparent lack of a national patron saint to look after the country; elaborating what intercessions and prayers ought to be made with particular concern for prisoners. Enclosing samples of prayer cards with handwritten suggestions for texts. Some information on her person. Asking to correspond with her brother Professor Joseph Mangan of Galway University; her superior would prefer if her name was not mentioned. [Also enclosing] postcard with hand- written list of prisoners in various prisons and camps. (Reverse bears photographic image of closing session of Sr. Thérèse's apostolic process.)
