dc.description | Typescript letter from [E.R. Morrissey, Dublin] to 'Carrissimo' (Hagan) (mostly in code). 'Carlo' called; he is out to harm 'Monica'[...]. K.[eohane] talks of little but the journey to Italy; he sees no prospect of Hagan coming, but there are mee- tings being held at present that might bring about the change any moment. They never expected Monica would stoop so lowly out of vanity and 'mitritis'; she certainly has a stormy time ahead. Daniel took up the Bobbio business, but he has a talent for making enemies. He cannot get away before September. The 'Novices' [Farmers' Party] are causing trouble. 'The Canary' [...] called to him and also to K.[eohane]. The latter's smile still has not worn off. Their friends' silence is not easily explained although after a lavish feast the famine could last. C[urran]'s efforts to invalidate the recent report failed, not surprisingly. 'Isais' [...] was busy during her short stay. Elections have to be held before December; one question is whether to free the prisoners before that time or not. There is little talk about the 'Home in the West'; 'M.' ought to be sent. More comments on Keohane's power of argumentation. Changes are in the air and all near 'the magic circle' are most anxious which is a good sign. | |
