Description
Holograph letter from Bishop Denis Kelly, Bishop's House, Skibbereen (County Cork), to Hagan, after transferring the sum for Peter's Pence. Glad for the re- cord number of students. Commenting on the Communists of Bergamo having learned an awful lesson – 'and they were big men when Benedict XV addressed them'. In Ireland the economy is not doing well; expecting worse because of the British election fiasco; 'we also are learning our smallness'. Glad student Flannery recovered his spirits. He himself now stays at home mostly – 'a kind of Diogenes'.
