Description
Typescript letter signed M.J. Murray of The Catholic World, 69 Middle Abbey Street, Dublin, to Hagan. In gratitude for his comprehensive reply about the matter. Commenting further on their newly conceived paper which is to 'fill a want, and always to be a guide to our people'. The epithet 'national' is to set it apart from the Irish Catholic, at present a conservative and nearly 'Tory' paper; their journal is to have a broad, liberal outlook. Then stating that, while personally opposed to the bishops' stance, the paper will not steer one particular course but encourage principle, honour and justice. Asking opinion on the sanction from the Archbishop of Dublin, withheld from them, but given to the Flanigan family and members of The Catholic Truth Society.
