Description
Holograph letter from M.[J.Curran], Tivoli, to 'Carissimo' (Hagan). News received from Joe Walsh are disconcerting in that a high profile government deputation including the president and Eoin MacNeill will go to Bobbio; the Marquis MacSweeney will be asked to accompany them. Larry Stafford is organising a special party for Sir John O'Connell. More speculations about the members of the hierarchy likely to go; [Canon Ryan, Thurles, will be there]. Conn (Murphy) commented that the arrest of (DeValera) more than jeopardises what was likely to be a peaceful election. More organisational points concerning Bobbio; the Gaelic-speaking pilgrimage is off. Then remarking that he can only believe Cosgrave going in order to make an impression on the Irish people in connection with Ireland's application for the League of Nations.
