Description
Holograph letter from Michael Dooley, 8 Castlewood Park, Rathmines, Dublin, to (Hagan), in gratitude for his letter. Explaining that from the point of view of the president of Maynooth College it would not be 'intrusive' for the Irish College or another to accept Dooley; further comments on his expulsion; the same referred to many instances where expelled students went on '"to become fine priests"'. He would be grateful for assistance; preferring a Roman college to others. Dr. P. Browne will write to Hagan on his behalf. Detailing the circumstances of his expulsion; his letters were along the lines of constitutional republicanism and he did not criticise the bishops. His letter to Mrs. Cathal Brugha was innocently connected with a charity. Recommending his own academic achievements, good discipline; defending cases where he had been reprimanded. While a committed republican, none of his letters were written for propaganda purposes, nor did he incite use of violence.
