Description
Holograph letter from Thomas Hagan, St. Patrick’s College, Manly (Australia), to Hagan, (enclosing) cheque for Mr.[Dineen]'s pension. C. Nolan is doing well. Leonard's health is not too good; commenting on his academic ability and character: he is a good linguist but lacks in scripture. Nevin declined the invitation from Propaganda to be their English 'Padre Spirituale'. Archbishop Sheehan will edit the revived ecclesiastical record for Australia; one crux with this is the expected opposition from Melbourne. Sheehan is not a great administrator; he recently gave a lecture on Aristotle which had 'nothing Catholic in it' which was not in his favour. Dr. Kelly is most active, especially for his age. They expect Dr. Mannix en route to New Zealand. They are very quiet what Irish politics are concerned. Sorry that J. Cullen is not well and may have to return to them.
