Description
Holograph letter from Archbishop Edward J. Byrne, Archbishop's House, Dublin, to (Hagan). Commenting very favourably on Paddy Walsh's promotion to vicar general; asking to see through an 'istanza' to gain the prelature for him. Hoping to gain the faculty of giving 'beneplacitum' for debts over £ 1,200; in a constantly progressing diocese as theirs there is always demand for refurbishments of or for new schools and churches. Some remarks (oblique) about mortality among priests; the [senior A.C.'s]; and the parish priests who blame the appointment of a curate bishop. In the canonisation process they are proceeding to the fifth period. Expecting to meet Curran this evening.
