Description
Two typescript letters signed Joseph S. Walsh, St. Jarlath's, Tuam (County Galway), to Hagan; in reply to his kind letter. Enclosing students' pensions. The archbishop's trip to Spain is going very well. On events in Ireland commenting only that the latest crisis in the army has been very serious: the I.R.B. – 'a source of disaster from the beginning' – are getting all the higher positions in the army and that causes some of the trouble. Inviting him to stay with them. [Enclosing second letter] on behalf of Archbishop (Gilmartin), approving the proposal from the Bank of Italy for their purchase of the Irish College, and also the acquisition of the former Capuchin novitiate on Via Santi Quattro.
