Description
Holograph letter from M.J.C.[urran], 211 (North Circular Road), Dublin, to Hagan, enclosing letter from Tuam (probably one of the letters HAG 1/ 1924/ 116). Then commenting on yesterday's election which is 'a severe blow to the (Free State government)'. Although 60% abstained from voting it is clear that the republicans are gaining steadily with people 'openly deploring ever having signed the Treaty'; expecting a landslide soon. Believing that the army crisis is far from over. For the coming contest in County Dublin he would not be surprised were the Unionists to enter government on the old system; proportional representation 'works out strangely in such a contest'.
