Description
Typescript letter signed Bishop Charles O'Sullivan, The Palace, Killarney (County Kerry), to (Hagan). Making detailed statement countering the accusations from Mr. Michael McElligot against his parish priest at Abbeydorney, Fr. James O'Sullivan. There has been no neglect of duty on the latter's part; the relatives of MacElligott were buried outside the parish and the priest could not attend. Explaining the frequent cases in Kerry where burials take place in another parish, often involving the local priest. Surmising that the complainant is moved by personal animosity, stemming from Fr. O'Sullivan's opposition to some agrarian outrages which the former was probably involved in. Adding that he supports Hagan's plans for the new Irish College.
