Holograph letter from John Smith, The House of St. John of God, Stillorgan, Dublin, to Hagan. He has spent four years at the home because of being addicted to drink. Asking whether Bishop Finegan has a right to ask him to celebrate any number of masses for his intentions, listing instances up to 18 March 1924. Asking also about the matter of an inheritance which the bishop wants him to spend for his upkeep, while there is a fund for the support of invalid priests- he has no money for private use. Suspecting that his earlier criticism of the bishop now also prevents him from being given a mission.
