dc.descriptionHolograph letter from Proinnsias Ní Bh[radaigh] [Dublin], to ‘a chara díl’ (Hagan). Enclosing photographs of their time in Rome; joking about the content. Bee went on a very short trip to Spain. Grateful for all the friendship and kindness given to them during their very enjoyable time in Rome: likening the Irish College to Dublin, since Irish people from all parts gather there; only some remarks about the north, their own origin, were regrettable. The boundary question is the most important subject; some say the new party brought pressure to bear on the Free State to take action at once; others believe the thing is all arranged, or that England controls matters. She does not believe the Labour government would implicate itself like this in the matter. The ‘”constitutionals”’ are said to have an impatient army of 30,000; she advocates scepticism: they became convinced all is not well through ‘the loss of a good job’ only. Charlie Dalton is disgusted with the republicans since there was no rush when the standard was raised. It seems likely the Free State candidate will win the Limerick election. Commenting it would not be a bad idea, as proposed by some, if Frank Aiken were to join forces with Sir James Craig. Remarks on the case of the Ward children, Belfast, now to be brought up Protestants against their father’s wish. Some family news; it will be very trying when Bee leaves them. There is no talk of release for E. O’Malley, but he is up and about.
