dc.descriptionTypescript letter from Seán T.(Ó Ceallaigh) with holograph letter from Cáit added on, 91 St. Stephen’s Green (Dublin), to Hagan; the letter to his partner arrived in good time. Referring to Hagan's imminent meeting with P.T.K.[eohane] in Southampton. At a recent Corporation meeting Dr. Myles Keogh gave an account of whom he met in Rome; he is impressed with the successful republican propaganda carried out there; his last 'instructions' received in Rome were to 'use his surgical skill at the earliest opportunity on Mr. Strange'. Gibbons has disappointingly turned to the treaty crowd, but he begins to see the error; his message is expected any day. Cosgrave and MacGrath's coalition seems over; the latter expected to reinstate his and Tobin's friends in the army; to take high positions- O'Higgins and friends are in high glee over his failure to do so. Also, it appears that Mulcahy fell out with Cosgrave; the former demands that the Army Committee of Enquiry include evidence on the activities of 'the McGrath-Tobin gang', or the 'mutineers'. Mulcahy claims he did all he could to curb their activities but failed for lacking cabinet support. However, under threat from Free State officers involved the Committee decided to ignore certain parts of the evidence; seemingly Sir Bryan [Mahon] left for the continent in fear of findings and has not acted on the Committee since. Then stating that the Free State executive are pressed by Britain to have the Lausanne treaty ratified but are trying to obtain certain concessions in return. Rumours say that all prisoners will be released within the next two weeks. It is said that (the Archbishop of) Tuam declared himself finished with all episcopal consecrations after the new Bishop of Clonfert's 'Republican prophecy'. – Cáit is making arrangements for seeing him and for a joint holiday. She received a present from Annie Vivanti recently. Rumours in general are thick on the ground in Dublin.
