Description
Holograph letter from Bishop J. Shiel, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Rockhampton (Australia), to Hagan, glad of the good news about his two students, though regretting Lyden does not show more intellectual ability. Regretting it is not likely that he or other Australian bishops will be going to Rome before 1930 unless summoned to the Vatical Council. He is kept busy in his vast diocese; there is fast development taking place. Dr. Mannix's republican views are not shared by other bishops; the Irish question is not widely debated but is a private source for concern.
