Description
Holograph letter from M.J. Curran, 15 Garville Avenue, Rathgar (Dublin), to Hagan, commenting that the situation regarding the College is delicate and critical. Reiterating that the bishops' letter ought to be adhered to; an uncompromising attitude will make their Roman friends pause and make it impossible for them to tolerate Bisleti's attempts. He is glad that Reali was re-introduced. Further suggestions on how to react to further reductions [of the papal financial contribution] and shame the Vatican into assistance. Planning to see [Bishops Byrne, O'Donnell, McNeely, McKenna and Gilmartin]. Then observing that there is anxiety felt in the Free State camp 'over the inevitable English duplicity on the "Ulster" Boundary question.' Cosgrave is said to believe it may be the end of the Free State and that there may be a general election in October. Urging him to arrange for his holidays.
