dc.description[Fragment] holograph letter from (unsigned) [P.T. Keohane, Dublin], to (Hagan). Praising 'that Mallet man' [...] with whom he had a refreshing chat. His friend ought by all means to complete his work since they will have a sound stock for next year; much recent [writings] have been causing irritation; recounting the meeting with [one of their readers] who found their product [item in the Catholic Bulletin] most outrageous but Keohane gave him a talking-to. Then condemning the way their clergy have to associate, or are depicted as doing so by the press, with freemasons and perverts (commenting on an incidence reported to him recently). Stating categorically he will keep free from all par- ties in the future; he cannot imagine ever crossing over to the enemy's side, against whom only unity and further investigation will help. Then observing that had more elections been won then some of the youths partly on their side would have been demoralised: 'there is a long road to travel and DeV. will need strength and backing to get over it'. Enclosing document from 'the Brewer' [Morrissey] (not extant).
