Description
Typescript letter from Peter Doyle, Parochial House, Mooncoin, County Waterford, to (Hagan). Hoping that the plans for the new college buildings are advancing satisfactorily; promising a contribution of £100 and surmising there will be a good amount of funds collected from friends in Europe, America and Australia. Then advising on the designs for the exterior and front, against the typical stucco front of so many Italian government buildings and for 'a bold striking design...in Travertine stone, and pilasters...', a work the type of which the Italians are the best in the world. 'CORAGGIO dunque Dear Monsignore and dismiss from your mind all fears and misgivings' – it will be a national college of which they will all feel proud.
