Holograph letter from [Fr. John J.] Ashley, Torbay, Newfoundland (Canada), to Hagan, in gratitude for the reception he received in Rome. He gave his messages to Fr. Rawlins on his return. Their archbishop is not in good health; he will look out for a good student to replace Ryan. Joking about the possibility of him being made bishop. Comments about the new College- nothing will be too grand for the present hard-working boys. Listing briefly mutual acquaintances he saw in Ireland; he stayed in Tipperary most of the time; praising Fr. Keating, Enniscorthy, but stating he would not like to be a monk at Melleray.
