Description
Holograph letter from [Alex May], 10 Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin, to Hagan, advising him there will be a rousing reception for Archbishop D.M.(annix). His first impression of republican apathy was agreeably undone when attending at Bodenstown where there were circa 6,000 present – 'there was a throb of energy (and) determination I have rarely seen before'. The bishops and clergy might refuse a welcome to Mannix; one address from him would rouse the country. Grateful for kindnesses in Rome; he leaves for Australia via America.
