Description
Holograph letter from Bishop E. Mulhern, Ardmaine, [1925] Newry (County Down), to (Hagan); the rescript has reached him. Hoping his campaign will not be in vain, but there should be some money at the moment for charitable causes. Consoling Fr. Phil who may have expected treachery from England; surprised that Eoin MacNeill did not see sooner his colleagues were biding their time. Then commenting on the [Boundary Commission findings]; Newry would suffer badly with her commercial hinterland being cut off. They are in contrast to Derry which will get relief. [Surprised] South Armagh is not gotten rid of, as Sir James Craig was anxious to do. [Mentioning the Boyne- unclear.] Waiting to see how much will be carried out, but the priority now is in the schools for which money is in short supply. Enclosing cheque for Masses to be said in the catacombs.
