dc.descriptionHolograph letter from Francis O'Hare, The Presbytery, Banbridge, County Down, to (Hagan). Joe [Devlin] and he had already reprimanded the editor of the Irish News; he wrote as if his paper were the organ of the Free State and they urged him to support Catholic interests. Expression of strong indignation towards the south which 'so callously betrayed [us]', both Free State and republicans, between 'DeValera's heroics' and 'the hysterics of (William) O'Brien'. Bitter observation that the Feetham line is preferable to extinction in a pogrom worse than the last, or emigration in a body. Irishmen only ever hated one another, and they must yet learn to recognise that 'moral courage is the secret of all success'.
