Description
Typescript draft with many handwritten amendments by [Hagan] of a short satirical play set at S. Pietro in Montorio. The ghost of the great Hugh O'Neill appears before a group of Irish dignitaries on pilgrimage, addressing in turn '"President"' W.T. Cosgrave, Bishop Fogarty of Killaloe, [Oliver St. John] Gogarty, and (Archbishop) O'Donnell of Armagh. Regretting to see the latter in such lamentable company, voicing the hope he will shake off 'the lethargy of many years': 'many things have happened because he was silent when an O'Donnell should have spoken out'.
