Description
Holograph letter from P. Murphy, House of Missions, Enniscorthy (County Wexford), to Hagan. Enclosing cheque for Masses; intentions are getting rare. There are rumours the Benedictines return to Mount St. Benedict. Then commenting that Fr. O'Connor leaving them for San Francisco is not a great loss. They will return to England for Lent, mostly to Irish parishes, which gives many opportunities to bring their fellow Irish back to the faith. The new College must have its roof at this stage. Politically, things are at a low ebb; many of their friends are willing to enter the Dáil – 'will the oath be removed to let them in? I doubt it.'
