Description
Holograph letter from Archbishop J.M. Harty, The Palace, Thurles (County Tipperary), to (Hagan), in thanks for documents. Enclosing payment of pension and expenses. The bishops approved of the Monsignors Curran and Ryan's mission, of the purchase of the summer residence. The idea of renting sections of the College must be resisted: 'if any personages take up residence in the College they can never be evicted'. He will try to send another student. Very positively commenting on the College's students as he met them in Rome; he and others made that point to the other bishops. Then observing the boundary question 'did not cause much of a stir. 'tis a case of everyone for himself- as could be expected from historical traditions.' But only one Irish bishop publicly blessed 'the London Pack'. Then applying for marriage dispensation for Joanna Brett and Michael Gleeson.
