Holograph letter from Cáit bean Seán T.(Ó Ceallaigh), 91 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin, to Hagan. Regretting she is not coming to Italy as originally planned, for the planned trip is very expensive. However, recommending her sister Chris O'Malley and brother-in-law. Commenting that the elections were once again not successful- even their opponents were sure the republicans would have Laois-Offaly. At least there cannot be talk of the others triumphing either. When talking to DeV(alera) he found him determined against attempting an agreement before the ardfheis. If there was to be a split he thinks that he and his party, including the Ó Ceallaighs, could do very useful things. He stresses the expedience of a single line of defence in dealing with the Free State. If these elections are not won, and they did everything they could, then it 'may make our own people face realities'. As usual they are divided into those who think and those not caring to. She would see no reason for Seán staying on if there was a split. Then commenting that J. Chartres's son-in-law 'died as he lived – a great Britisher'; having sought an English doctor in Rome and gone from bad to worse; other comments on Chartres and the Morning Post. Advising him of Annie Vivanti's address in Turin. Seán is doing better since Frank Aiken and others joined him, although the trouble brewing back home does not help them.
