Holograph letter from M.J.B.(rowne), St. Patrick's College, Maynooth (County Kildare), to Hagan. His friend the senior dean Fr. Eaton was gravely ill; explaining his delay in replying. Browne wrote his memorandum in Latin; inviting criticism but demurring that Hagan gave him too wide a commission. They had sent copy of their new statutes to the congregation, but Hagan's interlocutor seems not to have seen them; taking it that the latter is well-disposed and a friend, so that the matter is not misrepresented. Regretting Hagan will have to interpret his writing especially on the division of pass and honours classes at intermediate and university levels.
