Description
Holograph letter from P.J. Walsh, St. Joseph's, Glasthule, County Dublin, to 'caro mio Giovanni' (Hagan), enclosing holograph letter from Maurice Dufficy, Irish College Rome, to Walsh, asking for formal permission for his commencement of his doctorate course in Theology. -Walsh asks Hagan to exercise the discretion of the Dublin ordinary. Expressing disappointment but lack of surprise over the cardinalcy going to Armagh, not Dublin; also the appointment of the nuncio seems to accentuate their archbishop's subordinate position; his coming 'will be a lift for Adam (and) Eve's'. [28 November - 3 December 1929]
