Rebel Army "Rations"
Illustrated Civil War envelopes with patriotic symbols, slogans and cartoons, mostly Northern, including a few Southern ones.
Derogatory portrayal of the Confederate army. Three soldiers are trying to get drunk by eating molasses from barrels. Molasses is a major ingredient in rum. The image is implying that the rebel soldiers are too stupid to wait for the molasses to be turned into rum before they try to get drunk on it.
