Illustrated Civil War envelopes with patriotic symbols, slogans and cartoons, mostly Northern, including a few Southern ones.
Federal (Bald) Eagle, with a banner with the word Beware" on it, is perched on a federal shield with it right talons. The federal shield is surrounded by cannon, a knife, rifles and some rope. A hand, labeled Jeff. Davis, brandishes eight snakes labeled with the names of six Southern states (Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia) and two cities (Baltimore and St. Louis). The federal (bald) eagle is shooting the snakes with red arrows with a bow in its left talons. The snakes representing the cities have already been struck by arrows. The words "Copyright Secured" appears at the bottom of the image."
