Description
Georgetown faculty and students watched Pope Paul VI's message of congratulations for the University's 175th anniversary on an enlarged screen in McDonough Gym. This was the opening event of Georgetown's anniversary celebrations. The congratulations, delivered entirely in English, were part of the Pope's traditional birthday message, Sept. 26, 1963 being Pope Paul's 66th birthday. The birthday message, transmitted by Telstar from Rome, was carried on 187 television stations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
