The carillon was blessed and dedicated in a ceremony preceding the Fall Convocation. The instrument, a 'Flemish Master' carillon, was devised by Stromberg-Carlson to produce the tones of Flemish-tuned bells electronically. Used to accompany the University Glee Club on the Ed Sullivan TV Show earlier in 1956, the carillon was donated by Stromberg-Carlson to Sullivan, who in turn gave it to Georgetown.
