Georgetown College (1789-1815)
Marshal Foch (1851-1929), Commander in Chief of the Allied armies during World War I, was France’s representative to the Limitation of Armament Conference held in Washington on November 11, 1921. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Canon and Civil Law by the University on November 16, 1921 and was also presented with a gold sword, a gift from all the Jesuit colleges in the United States.
