John Bowen served as secretary to Georgetown University President W. Coleman Nevils, S.J., from 1929 to 1935. He was a founder of the Catholic Evidence Guild in the U.S. After leaving Georgetown, he spent thirty years working for the National Council of Catholic Men. In 1960, he co-authored a Perry Como recording, 'I know What God Is.'
