dc.descriptionFollowing his ordination in Belgium, Fr. O'Hagan arrived in the United States at the outbreak of the Civil War and was appointed the Chaplain to the Northern army. After his second stint at Georgetown, he was again ordered to join the Northern army as Chaplain. O'Hagan was present with the Army in Richmond, VA, and at Appomattox Court House to see General Robert E. Lee surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant, thereby ending the Civil War.en
