Abstract
The staff of the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature (NRCBL) can think of no better way to prepare for a twenty-first century full of insightful bioethics texts than by compiling the following bibliography of print resources. Designed to complement Scope Note 15: Basic Resources in Bioethics ( Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal 1: 75-90, March 1991; reprinted as NRCBL Scope Note #15, September 1991, revised 1995 the bibliography contains citations to selected monographs published from 1996 through 1999. The 1995 edition of "Basic Resources in Bioethics" will remain online as an historic document, and an annotated list of Internet resources in bioethics is published as Scope Note 38: Bioethics Resources on the Web in the June 2000 issue of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal and online at Scope Note 38. Taken as a set, these three documents provide a record of the growing sophistication both in the bioethics literature itself and in the avenues through which it is disseminated.
