HOMEOWNERSHIP AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: EXAMINING THE EFFECTS OF MEDIAN INCOMES WITHIN METROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREAS ON CIVIC OUTCOMES
Alessandri, Laura Elisabeth
Using data from the Current Population Survey November Civic Engagement Supplement and the American Community Survey, I estimate the effect of homeownership on civic engagement proxies and whether it varies by the median income of the Metropolitan Statistical Area. There is a strong, positive main effect of homeownership on community organization participation. The interaction between MSA median income and homeownership tempers this main effect, but it is not statistically significant.
