    Abstract
An emblematic life of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Consists of 81 copperplate engravings (including title page and frontispiece) attributed either to Jean Baptiste Barbé or Cornelis Galle, the elder, after Peter Paul Rubens. Commissioned by the Society of Jesus in 1605/1606 and first issued in 1609. The present edition apparently printed from the same plates except for changed t.p. date, a new official portrait of the saint, and added plate no. 80 depicting Ignatius’s canonization in 1622. Engraved t.p. is followed by plates 1-80; each engraved plate includes a descriptive caption in Latin with sequential numbering, attributed to Nicolaus Lancicius (i.e. Mikołaj Łęczycki) and Cardinal Peter Pázmány.
