The Resource Curse & Sweatshops section of the course was designed to support you in achieving the following objectives: Recognize how globalization affects firms, workers, and communities in developed and developing countries.Describe the issues in relation to transparency and accountability within the scope of the extractive industry.Identify what can be done to prevent “sweatshop abuses” from foreign investment and trade in low-wage, low-skill activities in emerging markets.Explain what effects foreign-controlled supply chains have on low skilled workers' employment and wages.Identify the factors that determine how much a worker earns.By completing this section of the course, you are also moving toward accomplishing the following course-wide goal:Identify the pros and cons of globalization in developed and developing countries
